Water filters are effective in removing contaminants from your water. I’m a huge fan of them and have used quite a few in my home and during my travels. I’ve found some to be more effective than others. With all the filters on the market today, you know how torturous it can be trying to get the right one. Water pitchers are great to use at home or office. They are also effective in keeping you hydrated in many ways. I’ve been using the Brita Water Filter Pitcher for close to 4 years now and it has always impressed me. This durable pitcher is still as good-looking and efficient as it was when I first bought it. It still gives me the same pure drinking water it was giving me years back, without the awful taste of chlorine. My husband and I used to travel a lot, and wherever we were going we were taking our Brita pitcher with us. “The best investment we’ve ever made” said my dear hubby 🙂 He was right. Talking about the quality of your drinking water, while the pitchers are great and easy, they have to be constantly refilled. While for myself this is not a problem at all, for a larger family it may be. This is when a Countertop drinking water filter comes handy. Do you have itchy skin and dry hair? I do to – better said, I had. This was before I found this affordable wonderful purifying and softening shower filter. It has a multi-stage replaceable cartridge based on activated carbon (this is my favorite treatment for drinking water). From the moment I started using it, I noticed a difference on my skin and hair. The water also smells and feels better. I love to shower in water free from chlorine. When I was living in Nevada (known for the hard water), I used “Aqua Earth 15 Stage”. Oh what a bless! Portable Water Filters – Best Water Filters for Travelers
If you like traveling like I do, you must have already been to places where the smell and appearance of the water made you prefer staying thirsty. There are however places with attractive looking streams and rivers. Sometimes you may like to camp on the side of a clear blue lake with crystalline water. Unfortunately the appearance of the water doesn’t always match the quality. If you want to be safe and not come back with some kind of disease, you better filter it. Testing the drinking water
Before you buy any filter, I think it’s a good idea to test the quality of the water first. Otherwise you may end up with a beautiful ineffective filter and a whole in your pocket… Whether at home or at the camp, a drinking water test kit is an inexpensive investment that can save you from making a mistake.
I personally wouldn’t drink distilled water, if my water source is not completely toxic, and not treatable with the other methods. Have you analyzed the water for lead?
Deer Marllen, yes I know about the water disaster in Flint, Michigan, and I couldn’t believe that was happening in the USA – I was actually shocked about the news coming from that area in my “Water cooler news” section on my website. I believe that everybody reading the news was shocked, as well. But what matters is actually what people of Michigan went through, because of… exactly what you said. This is ,or it’s supposed to be unacceptable for what it is considered to be one of the most developed countries in the World. I’m not living in that area, so I’m not current, but I hope that the situation have been improved somehow…
Zero Water filters filter out fluoride too (I’ve never tried Aquagear). They are great filters. I use that kind of water for coffee, tea, pasta, soups, and some other things. But I no longer drink straight filtered water on a regular basis at this level of filtration — pretty much like distilled water, which is not good (on its own) for the body all the time. I had a couple incidents with teeth after using only pure H2O for an extended time. Depending on what the water is like wherever a person is, however, it can be far preferable to filter said water very well before drinking what comes out of a tap. Where I am, the water is good. Not only is the water from the municipality good, but I made sure to install an actual tap that is of excellent material.
I recently was going to remodel a bathroom. I had chosen a particular shower head. I was going to buy it from Home Depot. When I was looking at some details about it on the amazon site, I saw that it was not guaranteed to be lead-free! That put a halt to my plan to include that item in a new bathroom. It was also alrming. How is it that plumbing items with lead in them can be sold in the United States? We know about the disaster in Flint, Michigan due to corruption, negligence, and ineptitude (on the part of governor Rick Snyder — in conjunction with some other statewide dismissals of democracy), but I could have ignorantly put something poisonous in my house in glee (thinking it’s all pretty, clean, and new).
